The house where the hemp museum is was built during the XIVth century, by a reach country-man. During the XVIIIth century,
it was the town house (weddings, conscription and so on ...). Before the 2nd world war, an owner destroyed the outside
and the inside, selling the stones around the windows, the chimney, the ceilings. An association, in 1954, began to
restaure it and installs the hemp museum. |
| Why hemp ? because it was a very important cultivation of the valley, and the industry of hemp weaving
employed a large part of the population of Bligny till 1900 (80 weavers in 1850). |
